Construction work has recently begun on the next chapter of The Leeway, our redevelopment of Ings in east Hull. This development forms part of the continuing regeneration story of this area of the city.
On 29th October, representatives from Hull City Council and Together Housing Group joined us to formally break the ground. Site 2c, which will become The Leeway 3, is the next part of the continuing regeneration story of this community.
Representatives from the key partners celebrated this milestone firstly on site with Compendium Living staff. Later, everyone enjoyed looking at pictures drawn for us by local Westcott Primary School Year 2 pupils.
This phase will benefit from part of a £4m investment from the Local Growth Fund. This funding was secured by the Humber LEP from Government as part of their commitment to the Northern Powerhouse. It will support the development by helping with abnormal site and infrastructure works. Homes England has also granted funding to Together Housing for their affordable homes on this phase.
The development will provide another 108 modern, stylish new homes, to add to the 185 we have already built. It will include 97 for open market sale and 11 for affordable rent in partnership with Together Housing.
The homes for sale will be two, three and four-bedroom properties in a range of styles. They will be similar to those we have already built on Saltshouse Road as part of the Ings regeneration. To meet growing demand in the area, nearly a quarter of these properties will be two-bedroom houses.
