Students from Hull Training Centre visited our major regeneration project at Ings in Hull in March, to learn more about the construction industry, as part of their studies.

Whole group shot_edited_webFive trainee Joiners and 15 students hoping to become Painters & Decorators or Multiskillers from the college visited our development on Saltshouse Road in Ings, where they had the opportunity to tour the development, meet the site team, and get a close-up view of the construction process.  As part of the visit, students gained valuable knowledge on health and safety and sustainability in construction, and were able to talk to members of the site team about careers in the building industry.

Gary Parkinson of Hull Training and Adult Education commented: “The visit to Compendium Living was an excellent opportunity for our apprentices to experience a working site and it enabled them to learn more about the different stages of construction and to understand the importance of sustainability in the sector.”

It’s estimated that over 230,000 new construction jobs will be created in the UK over the next five years. Two local apprentices are already working on our Hull project and we expect to recruit more apprentices later this year. Week-long work experience placements have also been hosted on the Ings scheme for six Hull Training and Education students.
