Compendium Living’s Castleward development in Derby has been chosen as a finalist at this year’s Inside Housing Development Awards.
The Inside Housing Development Awards celebrate the very best residential developments across the UK. They have shortlisted Castleward in the ‘Best development (urban – outside of London)’ category.
Castleward is our £100m development close to Derby city centre, where we are working with Derby City Council and Homes England. Together we are creating a new sustainable community of 800 new homes and businesses across a 30-acre brownfield site. Phase 2 provided 42 two and three-bedroom homes and apartments for open market sale and 12 two-bedroom affordable apartments. The phase was completed in November 2020 and only one open market property is still available to purchase.
We have been working on this placemaking project since 2013 and will be on site until at least 2028-2030. The project has provided apprenticeships and work experience opportunities as well as beautiful new homes. It also created a new Boulevard from the railway station into the city, and public open space with public artwork.
