Partners celebrate the start of more new homes in east Hull.

Partner organisations mark the successful start of affordable new homes in Hull.

In February we celebrated the start of 83 new homes we are building for Together Housing Group in east Hull.

Together Housing, Hull City Council, our main contractor Lovell and ourselves marked the early progress of the site with a turf-cutting event.  The site is off Surbiton Close in Ings, and is part of the large-scale ongoing regeneration of the area.  The 83 homes are a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership and are due to be completed next summer.  Also invited to the event were the Homes & Communities Agency and Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, who both contributed funding to the scheme.

Our Managing Director, Dave Bullock, said:  “This marks the start of the next stage of the large-scale renewal of Ings. We are working with the Council, Together Housing and local people to help to provide Ings with high quality homes in a great environment.  We want people to look forward to their future in the area with optimism and expectation.”

Hilary Brady, Group Head of Development at Together Housing Group, said that housing associations were about affordable homes for everyone.  “Many people think that social housing is about older properties, but Together Housing Group are also building new build properties.  This is so that people on all budgets can experience new, quality homes alongside the services Together Housing tenants expect”.

Cllr John Black, Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Infrastructure and Housing, commented on the development.  “It’s great to see how quality new homes set in attractive environments are changing the face of Ings.  This latest phase offers a choice of rehousing options for local people.”
